Jan 8th – Choppy Markets

The flat performance in the equity fund to date is not due to a scarcity of opportunity in the markets but rather choppy sideways action.

Global markets are now temporarily stuck in a very strange type of dogma, market prices have largely gone sideways since the near parabolic price moves that begun after the U.S elections.

As the second week of the year begins, with the dow a whisker away from 20,000 I anticipate an influx of liquidity and volatility in markets.

I churned out commissions in the last two weeks trading in and out of only a handful of stocks $RICE $AMD $SEAS etc. Without going into specifics the general thesis remains the same – these are businesses that generally are overbought and are extremely overvalued. The bull run we’ve had since the great recession, coupled with the recent run-up we’ve had in the last 2 months have given me a plethora of these plays.

I have no doubt the equity fund will get a very nice boost off one or two of these setups.

As always here’s a link to the portfolio: https://stockfuse.com/match/bohv/theselfishspeculator#/chatbase
